ACID DROPS BABY
Purely by accident, my third child was born two weeks premature while I was under the influence of LSD. What effect, if any, might this have on the child, now or in the future? The child is presently five months old and seems to be in normal health. Has this occurred before, and if so, what effect has this had on other children? I personally feel the birth was much easier for me.
Perhaps it was not purely by accident that your child was born prematurely while you were under the influence of LSD. LSD is derived from ergot, a drug sometimes used to induce labor late in pregnancy.
LSD has been taken during delivery by other women according to several reports, none published as far as I know. This is certainly not recommended because while the mother might have a good trip, the effects on the baby are unknown. But in all likelihood your child will be perfectly normal. There is no evidence yet to believe otherwise.
Birth Defects and LSD
I took 350 micrograms of LSD and a week later learned that I was pregnant. Will I have a deformed child? Please answer quickly.
Any drug, including aspirin and caffeine, may increase the risk of bearing a child with congenital defects. When injected into rats at a critical point early in pregnancy, both caffeine and LSD apparently can cause an increase in stillbirths, miscarriages, and deformities.
In humans, LSD has not been shown to cause an increase in birth defects, despite the horror stories you may have read. Its effect on future generations is unknown; the same holds true for the hundreds of other drugs introduced in recent years.
The chances are that you will have a healthy, normal baby. But, as I have said many times, no drug should be taken during pregnancy except on the advice of a physician.
