WITHDRAWN CLITORIS
I do not appear to have a clitoris. Naturally, due to this fact, I do not have much of an orgasm, either.
What is a withdrawn clitoris? I have heard this term used and wonder if this is applicable in my case. Is there anything that can be done in such a case? Is this at all common? I would appreciate any help or information you can give.
The clitoris is usually described as a miniature penis. (All genital organs, male and female, internal and external, have their counterparts in the opposite sex: nipples in the male, for example.) Like the penis, it has a glans, a shaft, and a foreskin. But the sole functions of the clitoris are sexual arousal and gratification.
Clitorises vary in size normally, and clinical research has shown that size does not determine sexuality or the capacity for sexual gratification. The same, of course, is true of penis size.
During periods of sexual excitement, the clitoris increases in size due to engorgement (with blood) of the glans. At the same time, the entire clitoris is retracted to a higher position on the symphysis pubis (the bone cushioned by the soft, fleshy mons pubis). Just before orgasm, there may be a fifty per cent reduction in the length of the clitoris due to retraction of the clitoral shaft.
This normal retraction of the clitoris away from the vaginal opening would be undesirable if direct stimulation by the penis were necessary for sexual gratification. But stimulation of the clitoris during intercourse is almost always indirect, the result of penile traction on the labia minora or inner lips of the vaginal orifice. This means of clitoral stimulation during intercourse is the same regardless of the coital position or minor variations in the location and size of the clitoris.
If the clitoris did not retract during intercourse, there would be many bitchy women because the line between stimulation and irritation is as thin as a methedrine head.
Clinical observations of women masturbating indicate that concentrating on the clitoris alone during sexual foreplay may be too much of a good thing. During automanipulation women stimulate the entire mons area, and if they stimulate the clitoris directly they give their favors to the shaft rather than the glans.
To be blunt, I thigh, knee, or heel of the hand may be better appreciated than a digit.
